Meanwhile, England knocked off co-hosts Ukraine to secure their first advancement out of the group stage in a Euro tournament since 1996 (when they were the host country). Neither Poland nor Ukraine made it out of the group stage, matching the performance of 2008 co-hosts Switzerland and Austria, who both failed to qualify in that tournament.
